Four FESSUD working papers have recently been published in a special issue of the Panoeconomicus journal following up on their author’s presentation last year, in Bilbao:
- Carrasco, C., Peinado, P.: On the origin of European imbalances in the context of European integration, Working Paper Series No 71, October 2014
- Dodig, N., Herr, H.: EU policies addressing current account imbalances in the EMU: an assessment, Working Paper Series No 74, January 2015
- Hein, E., Detzer, D.: Coping with imbalances in the Euro area: Policy alternatives addressing divergences and disparities between member countries, Working Paper Series No 63, September 2014
- Ferreiro, J., Gálvez, C., Gonzáles, A.: Fiscal policies in the European Union during the crisis, Working Paper Series No. 92, February 2015
The above mentioned FESSUD researchers had presented their work on WP9 – Financial stability and macroeconomic policies at the occasion of the 11th International Conference Developments in Economic Theory and Policy, in Bilbao (ESP) on 26-27 June 2014.
The papers in question deal with the divergence and disparities between EMU member countries regarding current account imbalances, differential inflation and competitiveness. The first paper analyses the origin of those imbalances; the second one is describing and evaluating the official policy responses pursued by the EU institutions and the Troika; the third one paper is drafting an alternative approach to address these issues; and the last papers analyses the significantly different fiscal policies implemented int he European Union since the beginning of the current crisis.
